Description

Right now the Ctrl+T hotkey creates a "search" tab with an text input bar and a lot of empty space. The empty space is cruelly wasted, despite the fact that a new tab is an important entry point in a UI.

The empty space should be utilized to guide the user further to other places of major importance in the UI.

I propose that the empty space would be filled with a tile of big icons from "tab creation menu", recent Azoth conversations, most visited/bookmarked websites, etc. This proposal is open to discussion, but in no way the empty space should persist.

That's a web browser tab, actually.

The long proposed thing is a Speed Dial with bookmarks and/or most visited sites, but nobody is up to HTML enough to make the page.

New plugins' tabs should better be opened via the Sidebar plugin (the one that provides the left pane with buttons of opened tabs). It doesn't support opening single-tab plugins (like LackMan is) for now, but that's a shortcoming that needs to be fixed.

To sum it up, IMO two things need to be done: Speed Dial in Poshuku (since that's a browser tab, after all), and support for opening single-tab plugins in Sidebar. I agree that 1920x1200 of white is a terrible waste of space.

What's your opinion?

Implemented as in Launchy. Speed dial in Poshuku is a separate issue.
