Description

To place leechcraft packages in openSUSE Factory we must solve some problems with licensing.

"Ciaran Farrell 2011-08-12 10:22:12 UTC

There are a number of licensing issues with leechcraft 0.4.85

First, please check if there is code/icons in leechcraft or a plugin thereof
that is licensed under the license of the following file:

leechcraft-0.4.85-234-geac7867/src/plugins/azoth/share/azoth/iconsets/clients/default/FP_Freeware
License.txt

leechcraft%0.4.85%r26/leechcraft-0.4.85-234-geac7867/src/util/modeltest.cpp
is licensed under the GPL-2.0. Is this file compiled with the rest of the
sources? If so, the effect could be that the entire derived binary would need
to be licensed under the GPL-2.0 (i.e. "only")."

What suggestions?

  • FP_Freeware_License.txt was removed about a week ago. Though, the licensing status of client icons remains unclear. If non-free proprietary client icons are not OK, we can discuss the solution for that here as well.
  • modeltest.{cpp,h} isn't needed in the tarballs you upload to the buildservice, you can safely remove it from the sources. It's kept in the repo purely for convenience as it is needed for debugging occasionally.
